Regarding my praise of "Avatar".

If it weren't for the visuals, the movie would suck. The dialog is laughably bad, the acting wooden and stilted, and the plot itself is such a close cousin of "Dances With Wolves" as to be about 80% plagiarism, but...

BUT...

Film is a visual medium and the visuals in this movie are nothing short of awesome, and in fact are so awesome as to render meaningless any complaints I might have about the shortcomings of the film in the areas of plot/acting etc.

This is a bit too late to be of any use to you, but...

For a perfect Christmas Eve, go see the 18:00 showing of Avatar up the road, and then have dinner in the nearby Turkish restaurant.

Ok, Christmas Eve is past, but if you get a chance I highly recommend seeing Avatar on the big screen.

Awesome, beautifully awesome film.

Riona's entry reminded me I should wish everyone happy winter holidays as well.

Santa Dalek wishes you a MER-RY CHRIST-MAS, and the Doctor help you if you haven't been a good girl or boy this year.

And now for a nice Christmas song: Jonathan Coulton's Chiron Beta Prime, telling us that even if you've been enslaved by robots, you can still celebrate Christmas.

I have also, with the help of my mother, made a chocolate cake. OM NOM NOM.

English place-names...

"Middle Wallop in Hampshire - one of the worst-hit counties by this week's snowstorms..."

I guess that makes sense. If it had been the worst-hit county, it would have been "Big Wallop".

[i]autumnrain: ☂ Update on being sick

Well, last night I went to be at 9:30 since I was boiling hot and feverish. I got a good twelve, eleven hours of sleep and my fever has pretty much disappeared, thankfully!

TMI, but when I woke up I was very damp and sweaty. I guess I sweated out my fever.

I picked up my prescription for my anti-biotics and the Pill. I've already taken my first anti-biotic- they're big and vile tasting and have to be taken on an empty stomach. I know it's because they're absorbed quicker, but I reckon it's because they're so nasty that you'll want to eat something to take the taste away.

I can't actually start taking the Pill yet (the brand I got is called Yasmin) because the leaflet with the antibiotics said they'll clash with each other. At least they're all compatible with my anti-depressants.

I'm still coughing like a bitch and it's making my head hurt, but that should go away soon.

On the upside, I think I'll be better for Christmas and I got my Yanma kid in the post and it only took five days to arrive, so that's nice :3

Due South continues to be entertaining. Fraser fails at shoplifting! Ray has been declared dead! Fraser and Ray argue with their ghost dads! Fraser's Ghost Dad keeps helpfully informing Fraser how to kill the guy who murdered him! And there's a new Mountie at the consulate, who is adorable and Fraser clearly wants to facepalm at him a lot but is too polite to do so.
